Library Information

MISSION STATEMENT
Our library is a shared space where students can CONNECT! We love to CONNECT learning in the classroom to lessons in the library, CONNECT our library lessons with STEM skills and activities, CONNECT our ideas to books, and CONNECT our imaginations to great stories.

LESSONS
All PreK - 5th grade classes will have library lessons every other week. The focus of our lessons is to build additional connections to classroom curriculum through literacy and STEM skills.

 

CHECKOUT
The checkout limit is 2 books at a time (exceptions are made at teacher request for class projects). Students in Pre-K - 2nd grade will have book checkout during library lessons. It is the teacher's discretion whether to send library books home or keep them at school. Students in 3rd - 5th grade will have book checkout during library lessons and also be able to visit the library during open checkout times throughout the week.

 

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS CLUB
3rd - 5th grade students are invited to participate in our Battle of the Books club. Students will read the 9 books on our Battle list and meet regularly in the library for discussion and comprehension quizzes. In January, teams will be created to prepare for the district Battle of the Books competition. The top two teams will be chosen to participate in the district competition at the end of February.
